Who wants a Haute Dog????

Hi Pretties!  So it’s been a while… again.  So sorry for the inconsistency!  I recently got a promotion at my day job, so I’ve been really busy!  I haven’t quite mastered the art of working by day and blogging by night.  I’ll keep trying though!  Guess what day it is?  It’s National Dog Day!  Yay!  As a proud doggie mommy, it’s super fun to celebrate the greatness that is dogs, and what better way to do so than by sharing my picks from MAC Cosmetics’ Haute Dogs collection for Fall 2015!  Can I say that I was super duper excited for this collection?  Dogs and makeup are probably my two most favorite things in the world!  The promotional images for this collection were on point – I really want a print to hang above my vanity!  This collection primarily consists of eyeshadows, lipsticks, and lip glosses all in the Mineralize formula.  Additional products included in this release were Fluidline gel liners, new limited edition duo-fiber brushes, nail lacquers, Mineralize Skin Finishes and Sculpting Powders; many of these are either re-promoted or permanent items.  In MAC-speak, this collection is all about “buttery fur tones” for the eyes and “regal berries” for the lips.  In other words, you can expect to find a lot of neutrals and warm berry and red tones in this collection.  Nothing super innovative, but I’d definitely say it’s a solid collection for Fall.  I purchased one of the Mineralize eye shadow quads in Pure Bred, a Mineralize Rich lipstick in Rare Breed, a Mineralize Rich lipstick in Labradorable, and a Mineralize Glass in Lap Dog.  I also purchased my first MAC Studio Nail Lacquer in Very Important Poodle.  The product names are awesome, but I wish there had been some special packaging to really sell the dog theme.  I haven’t really road tested these products yet, but I know that I like the Mineralize Rich lip products – they’re creamy and moisturizing.  I’m not sure about the eyeshadows yet; they weren’t super opaque when i swatched them, but the colors were beautiful and appeared to blend well.  Let me know if you’d like a full review of any of these products!  In the meantime, enjoy all of this eye candy!  Give your pooch or pooches some loving today and have some fun with your makeup!

Friday Quick Tip!

Hi Pretties!  So, I kinda sorta overslept my alarm this morning and only had 45 minutes to get ready for work.  Yikes!  This is not near enough time for me to really get my makeup like I like it (what can I say? I’m high maintenance).  As is my custom, I spent the majority of my time trying to make all of the hyper-pigmentation, dark circles, and fine lines fade from view – bring on the paint and spackle!  Then I attempted to give myself the appearance of cheekbones with blush, bronzer, and highlighter (see?  I told you, high maintenance!).  This certainly didn’t give me a lot of time to do anything interesting with my eyes, so I improvised!  I used a fluffy blending brush and ran the bronzer I used for my contour through my crease.  I also used my cheek highlighter to highlight my brow bone.  Top it with a bit of mascara and you’re good to go!  Today I used the M.A.C. Mineralize Skinfinish in Jolly Good from the Kelly Osbourne collaboration.  I missed out on this collection when it first came out, but fortunately for me, Macy’s still had some of the items in stock online!  Here’s the link for those interested!

Shopping Alert!! M.A.C. Collaboration with Brooke Shields

Hi Pretties!  So, I’m randomly checking my email at work (i.e. procrastinating at work), and what do I spy but an email from M.A.C. announcing the new M.A.C. Brooke Shields – A Beauty Icon’s Favourites collection (yes, that’s how the word “favorites” was spelled in the email – were they trying to be fancy or is it an error?  *shrugs*).  Look at the goodies!  I’m loving that pop of orange on the packaging!  No blushes in this collection, but there is one bronzer and a Cream Colour Base duo; two lipsticks and two Lipglasses; two Veluxe Pearlfusion eyeshadow palettes with five shades each; a couple of nail polishes; and an eye shadow palette with fifteen shades (some are from M.A.C.’s permanent line) in the limited edition Brooke Shields packaging.  There’s also a few eyebrow products and a mascara from the permanent line included.  Now, I know I’m on the No Buy challenge, but some of theses goodies may be too good to pass up.  This collection is available online now and will be available in stores on October 2, 2014.  What are your thoughts, Pretties?
